Prime Day Deals For Better Cooking
Items to stock your kitchen, pantry, and closets for a steal!
I promised a ‘Stack on the ten pots and pans you need to get cooking, but I’ve been knee deep in Kindergartners for a couple of days, bringing my patented brand of homemaking instruction to the tinies. We’ve been planting gardens and racing worms, and I’m still about two pots and pans away from a full list.
BUT.
I didn’t want you, dear readers, to miss out on the things I love that also happen to be on sale for Amazon Prime Day(s). I’ll be shopping for kid bento boxes and clearance Squishmallows, but you can shop for what you need to actually cook while it's slightly cheaper (I also get a very terrible commission from Amazon, fair warning)!
Amazon Prime Day Kitchen Essentials
Henckles Classic Razor Sharp 8-inch Chef’s Knife: An instant classic that’s useful for practically every cutting job in the kitchen, and won’t go dull if you use it to open the mail.
Speaking of knives, this Wusthof Gourmet Knife Set is a great price. It seems like a lot, but as with most quality items, it’ll last you long enough that it’s worth the price. My Wusthof set is now 15 years old and I’ve barely had to sharpen it.
KitchenAid Artisan 3.5qt Mini-Mixer with tilting head: A lot of KitchenAid mixers are on sale for Prime Day, but this one fits nicely onto an apartment countertop (even if you have basically no countertop), and can still compete with the big mamas.
It doesn’t explicitly say it’s a Prime Day deal, but this GE Immersion Blender is ideal for soups and sauces. The Vitamix is more expensive, but also on Prime Day deals — it only depends on your brand loyalty.
My stupid espresso machine is hundreds of dollars less today.
So is my Crock-Pot, and if you don’t already have one, you need one. Today, the Big Daddy Crock-Pot is on sale for the cost of the cheap-o.
You can never have too many kitchen shears. Or too many can openers.
Every kitchen needs an air fryer and this Ninja Air Fryer Pro is a workhorse.
There is a huge difference between “rice” and “rice” and this one makes the latter. I bought a Zojirushi professional rice cooker for my husband for Christmas around a decade ago and my only complaint is that it shipped from Amazon in its original box, which means he knew what he got weeks too early.
Cookware
There are definitely some good deals — many of which I’ll recommend in my Top Ten pans.
We can’t all afford a Le Creuset or make it to one of the brand’s mega tent sales, but this Lodge enameled dutch oven has a dirty secret: it’s just as good and very affordable (that said, if you’ve been waiting to get a Le Creuset, this Chef’s Oven is a bit less spendy and still does the work of a dutch oven.
Absolutely every single human needs at least one of these Lodge cast iron pans. It’s the classic, it’s useful for everything, it’ll cook, it’ll roast, you can use it to boil water in a pinch, just don’t clean it with Dawn dish soap.
Made In is a highly rated, widely available alternative to more expensive brands like All Clad and Calphalon. Their three-piece fry pan set is great for a beginner — the shape is perfect for sauces, it’s fully stainless steel so with a little practice it can cook even sticky things, and its a decent size both for cooking and if you have limited storage.
These are some fabulous ceramic nonstick pans from Calphalon that won’t scrape or poison you, which is a real concern with non-stick!
And Then, There’s This:
Do you need a single-cup Keurig in your bedroom or bathroom? Have you even ever thought of having a single-cup Keurig machine that’s all yours? Well, I’m here to tell you it’s something necessary for your self-care.
I got a pink one for Mother’s Day a couple of years ago — I actually asked for it, because I started work in my office (upstairs) before my kids were awake (downstairs), and any small moves I made in the kitchen woke them up, ensuring absolutely nothing would get done all day. I learned quickly that it was the best way to start the day.
Now, I’m on the first floor (with the kitchen and the espresso machine), but I still keep my Bathroom Keurig, because it’s just that necessary.
See you all soon with the Top Ten Pots and Pans You Need For Your Kitchen.
Please don’t tell my 50 year old Lodge pan I shouldn’t be cleaning it with Dawn from time to time, it may get mad at me and the eggs will stick…
Good recommendations on knives. We have a Henckles knife set (and we've purchased additional knives) and they haven't failed us.
If I may, you should eventually cover sharpening knives. It's not difficult, Japanese wetstones are terrific, and a sharp knife is a safe knife.
